Carol A. Shepard is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and President of Life Tide Counseling, P.C. She was licensed in 1994 while living in Southern California. While there she worked at an outpatient drug treatment center, as a Family Court Mediator and owned a private practice. She is a community educator, teaching such classes as anger management, assertiveness training and parenting after divorce.

She moved to North Carolina on a permanent basis in 2007. While in North Carolina she wrote a column for ENC Family on parenting and relationships and taught Introduction to Psychology and Developmental Psychology for Coastal Carolina Community College. She is also a trained practitioner in EMDR, a therapy for those who are still reacting to trauma’s they experienced in their past. She lives with her husband of 37 years with whom she has raised two daughters.
