What is a Marriage and Family Therapist?

A Marriage and Family Therapist is a professional licensed by the State to help people achieve more adequate, satisfying and productive marriage and family relationships, and to diagnose and treat mental illness. They have completed a Master's degree which emphasizes the study of marital and family relationships, communication and the study of human behavior. They have completed at least 1,500 hours of supervised clinical experience and have passed a national licensing exam.

What is the age range for your patients?

From age 5 to age 100.

Is there any value to conflict, depression or anxiety?

Depression, anxiety and conflict are often vehicles that draw attention to changes that need to be made in one's life. They point to what isn't working and to those things that we have the power to change. In order to gain this direction it is important to take time to pay them attention rather then ignore them or be too quick to medicate them.
