Dr. Cherie Bedford DBH NCC LPC is a Doctor of Behavioral Health, a National Certified Counselor, a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor, and is actively working towards her certification as a National Clinical Mental Health Counselor. She has been with Life Tide Counseling, PC since 2014 and became fully licensed in 2013. During 2009 through 2014 she earned her Doctorate, Master’s degree, and completed her practicum and internships’ requirements to practice as a Behavioral Healthcare Consultant and Therapist.

As a therapist Cherie’s focuses on problem solving matters concerning parenting, family systems, relationships, adjustments, anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, grief and loss, unhealthy boundaries, military family issues, women’s issues, and prevention/screening/ education of substance use/risky behaviors.

Cherie’s has experience working with active duty military members and their families, as an inpatient substance and crisis treatment center as a counselor and evaluator, in the ED for both Onslow Memorial Hospital and Camp Lejeune Hospital as a crisis counselor responder, and in a neuropsychiatric center as a mental health evaluator. Cherie has been an Onslow County School’s educator, a trainer and eligibility specialist for the Onslow County Department of Social Services, and as a facilitator providing motivational workshops for state and local government agencies. in outpatient medical clinic as a Behavioral Health Consultant.

Despite Cherie’s active schedule, she has volunteered for Onslow County and Camp Lejeune as a Community Crisis Counselor, Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Victim Advocate, and as a Guardian Ad Litem. During her free time, Cherie enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, outdoor activities, gardening, reading…



Steve Shepard is our office manager and the one who returns calls and schedules most of our appointments. He also does our billing and may give you a call when there is a question about payment or your insurance. He is not a therapist but is easy to talk to and a good listener.



Stefanie Sheldon is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) dually-licensed in the states of North Carolina and Virginia. Stefanie has 18 years of experience working in various capacities: school administration, private practice, and residential therapeutic settings. Counseling and/or consultation is offered via individual or family therapy in helping clients regain their balance during challenging times and develop tools for enhanced life satisfaction.

Stefanie recently moved to North Carolina’s Crystal Coast with her husband in the summer of 2017 and has very much appreciated all this area has to offer! Stefanie has two grown stepsons, one currently serving overseas in the U.S Air Force and another entering the field of construction engineering after serving in the U.S. Army.

Understanding that selecting a therapist can be a daunting process, Stefanie welcomes any inquiries regarding her proficiencies or therapeutic style.
